Inheritance Progress Report 11/10/18

Been a busy couple of days.  Was actually planning to post yesterday, but I didn't want to spam everyone with extra messages since I was rolling out the latest Wanton Cove build.

Thursday:

Thursday is one of those days that started out great, then I got a bug report that completely threw me for a loop.  I spent about four hours that night trying to find the mistake, and it proved to be an exercise in frustration.

Friday:

Friday morning fared little better.  I spent the bulk of my morning hunting for bugs again.  I thought I was on the right track when I located one, then that revealed another, then I fixed the second one, and it revealed a third, and so forth.  It was a tremendously frustrating morning and I eventually gave up and turned it over to the wonderful coders who help out.

By that point, I'd made up my mind to just write for a while rather than fiddle with code and I ended up writing a cute little scene for Eve that gave me absolutely no trouble plugging it into the game.

Today:

Had a local gaming convention that I opted to take my family to.  We only stayed for a couple of hours, but we had fun.  Got home early and waded back into things.

One of the first things I noticed as I settled back in was  a message from one of our coders.  Turned out I had a single little typo in the code I'd written for a scene (Seriously, I used the wrong "style" of quotation mark in one place.  That's it,  One frigging quotation mark out of place broke the whole darn game and I wasted a day's worth of work time trying to find it.)  TME, I love you man, you're awesome and I can't thank you enough for all the help you give with my horrible coding.  You are a scholar and a saint.

After that was all resolved, I spent part of the afternoon planning out what I want to accomplish for Wanton Cove this coming week since that looks like it will be the winner of this month's "What should I do" poll.  Looks like I've got a lot of work ahead of me this coming week, nearly all of it being naughtyness rather than story driven.  ;)

Now the fun bit:

Had a stray thought last night that I've been rolling around in my head.  I have asked around a little about opinions, and most people seem to think it's a neat idea worth exploring.

When I write, it's a bit like being a method actor.  I daydream about the setting, things that could happen, imagining the way people look and behave.  In this case, I was thinking about Eve and the hide and seek content.  I was thinking about her excitedly telling Bubbles about playing hide and seek.  As I was doing this, I wondered also how she would go about explaining such things (And the comical misinterpretations her words could cause.) and thought to myself, "What would it be like to have her write one of my progress reports.  Not as an itemized list like I usually do, but in a kind of story form."

And with that, a thought was born.

I don't know when I will start it, and I'm not sure if it will catch on or not, but some time in the coming week or two, I want to start writing progress reports from a character's perspective.  Likely whoever receives the most attention in that day's work load.  So instead of me telling you all about new "hide and seek" content in the game, instead Eve can tell you about how much fun she had playing hide and seek with her master.  Or instead of telling you all that I wrote a new sex scene for Azumi in Wanton Cove, instead Azumi might be telling you how much fun it was to see the detective again.  Those kinds of things.

Most likely, I'll try those kinds of posts for a few days, then run a poll to see what people think.  They're going to be a little more work, but I think they'd be novel and fun (And I can't think of anyone who does anything similar?), and if you guys enjoy them, then they will be well worth a little extra effort.

And there you all have it!  Going to take the rest of this evening off, then spend tomorrow with family.  Monday morning will be right back to work!

PS:  Should have a new test build for Inheritance up some time late tomorrow.
