Chapter 149: Have we met before?

As the impact noise of the blaster bolt faded, silence fell in the hall as everyone froze in fear at the fact that the man with the bounty on him still had a weapon that shot blaster bolts unlike the rest.

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): Wait, he can still fire blaster bolts?]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): Did you really think something as special as a Universal Force Staff could be stopped by an EMP blast?]

[Justiceistruth: (Earth): Then why didn’t he use it earlier to wipe out the bounty hunters?]

[Superior4horns (Vinox 3): Maybe he was making a statement.]

“You're in no position to demand anything of me, or would you like to try that again?” Adam asked as he aimed his staff directly at the guild leader while his tail took the opportunity to kill the bounty hunters around him who were still out cold from the earlier stun pellet.

“You're killing them in cold blood.” The male who complained said with a look of anger on his face.

Adam didn’t bother to reply and instead aimed his staff towards the complaining male before the man's head suddenly exploded as a blaster bolt hit it causing blood and head bits to splatter around where he had been standing and his body to crumple to the ground.

“Ewwww gross, that fuckers brain juices are all over my shirt.” The female driver said in disgust.

“Any further complaints?” Adam asked in a dark tone as his tail swung around dangerously.

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Oh he’s seriously pissed, just look at that tail.]

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): It’s like a snake waiting to strike.]

[Superhearofangirl (Earth): That woman doesn’t seem bothered about her companion's head being blown off.]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): Well do you like it when you get something on your top and it causes a mess?]

[Superhearofangirl (Earth): Fair point.]

They all shook their heads at Adam’s question while the driver quickly went quiet while Tessa continued to never take her eyes off Adam.

“Good then let me make this perfectly clear.” Adam began before asking, “I only came here to hand in some quests and yet I got attacked by an association I am supposed to be part of, care to explain why?”

“Being part of the guild does not exempt you from having a bounty placed on you.” The guild leader replied nervously.

[Justiceistruth: (Earth): What sort of stupid ass rule is that?]

[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): It’s how the guild operates.]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): What’s to stop one member putting a bounty on a rival hunter?]

[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): That is against the rules.]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): Well do those rules stop them from asking someone who is not part of the guild from putting the bounty up for them?]

[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): Well….]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Totally fucked up.]

“That’s what shit fucking rule, maybe you should point that out to people when they sign up.” Adam stated.

“It’s pretty common knowledge.” 

“Apparently not since I didn’t know about it.” Adam retorted before continuing, “Now let’s talk about this bounty on me, I want it gone.”

“Although I would love to do that since you have your Universal Force Staff pointed at my head, I’m afraid the only ones who can do that are the TISF who placed the bounty on you or Bounty Hunter HQ.”

“Then tell me who in TISF placed this bounty on me so I can go ‘talk’ to them about it.”

”I’m afraid we don’t know, if the client wants to retain their anonymity when they place a bounty they can, all we know is it comes from the TISF.”

“Anamity are you fucking kidding me? Where was my anonymity a few minutes ago?” Adam asked angrily, causing his tail to whip the ground leaving a mark.

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): So those who post the bounties can keep their identities secret, but the bounty hunters themselves are not protected in any way by the guild? Wow so fucked up.]

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): I guess workers rights haven’t reached the wider universe yet. Kekeke.]

“That’s just how the system has always worked even before I was born.” The guild master replied.

Adam was about to reply but the continuous staring of the attractive blonde that he was still getting that familiar feeling from as if they had met before distracted him, also there was no sign of fear in her beautiful eyes but instead some other primal instinct he couldn’t place.

“Have we met before?” Adam suddenly asked as he looked at the blonde.

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Even in this situation he’s trying to hook up with women.]

[Puntanghunter69 (Earth): My man has good taste, she’s seriously hot. Like Diva Lorelie level of hot.]

[OrangeeyedStace (Terrana Five): Is this really the time to be flirting with other women babe? 😤]

“We have.” The blonde replied with a smile before saying, “We met on the Imperial Down when it collected Diva Lorelie from you, I’m Lieutenant Tessa Kirkmeld.”

“Tessisdabest?” Adam asked in surprise to which Tessa nodded.

[Beczontop (Terrana 5): …]

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Oh the stalkers here, I wondered where she was. Kekeke.]

[Justiceistruth: (Earth): SStrange that she’s not kicking off about this though.]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): Maybe because it’s her friend.]

“I thought I recognised you when we nearly collided earlier at the entrance… Errr sorry about your companion, now I kinda feel bad for killing him.”

“Don’t worry about it, he wasn’t really liked much as all he did was laze around.” Tessa replied nonchalantly as if his death wasn’t an issue to her.

[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): Wow harsh.]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): I like this girl.]

“Errr sure, well since you're a member of the TISF can you explain why I have a bounty on me?”

“Unfortunately not, I only just learnt about this myself, though I can look into it if you want.” 

“I would appreciate that, but why are you offering to do this instead of trying to kill me since you're a TISF officer?”

“First I have received no orders or knowledge from command regarding the bounty placed on you, second this is Bounty Hunter Guild land and as the guild master kindly reminded me earlier, anything that happens here is none of our concern and third because I’m a fan.”

“You're a fan of this guy?” The guild master asked as the others around Tessa looked at her in surprise.

“Yup, his streams are always entertaining.” Tessa replied with a smile.

[Whostolemyduck (Earth): Is it just me or is this chat just full of crazies?]

[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2):  You're not wrong.]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): I’m getting deja vu, haven't we had this conversation before?]

[Beinglittleisnotadisadvantage (Strathorp 7): We have and something tells me this won't be the last time.]

“Cool.” Adam replied in an uncertain tone before continuing, “Well you know how to inform me when you have any information, I will be sure to thank you properly afterwards since you're doing this and didn’t attack me before.”

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Oh I know a stalker who is going to be jealous that her friend got a favour from the streamer and not her. Kekeke.]

[Puntanghunter69 (Earth): Kek.]

[Beczontop (Terrana 5): …]

“No problem.” Tessa replied with a bright smile that stunned everyone momentarily.

[Superhearofangirl (Earth): How can she smile like that when surrounded by so many dead bodies?]

[AlamoMatador4thewin (Earth): I thought she was one of the few sane female viewers in the chat, but it looks like she’s as crazy as the rest.]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): Us crazies gotta stick together.]

“Rigggght.” Adam replied before turning back and addressing the guild leader, “Well he’s the deal, contact your HQ and tell them to pull the bounty or else.”

“You're threatening the entire guild? You know they're not going to take that seriously right?” The guild master replied with a bemused smirk.

“Maybe they will after I destroy this guild.” Adam replied darkly.

“What!”

“You have five minutes to clear out, after that this building will be turned to rubble.” Adam instructed as he activated his anti-gravity drive which caused his wings to appear, surprising everyone present except Tessa after which he flew towards the main entrance and left the building.

After Adam left those that remained heaved a sigh of relief at the fact he hadn’t decided to kill any more of them.

“Anti-gravity armour with wings?” The driver asked in surprise.

“He can’t be serious right?” The guild master asked after turning to Tessa.

“Oh he is, you know what he did on Trillion to the Sky Towers right?” Tessa replied with a smirk before turning and walking away.

As she did she spoke up again, “We’re leaving before this place becomes rubble and I advise you to do the same.”

“If he does this he will be kicked out of the guild and the guild will place a bounty on him themselves.” 

“After what you saw, do you really think he cares? I think the guild should consider if it’s worth going to war against someone whose tech is vastly superior to their own.”

“Wait what do you mean by that?” The guild master asked to which Tessa only waved as she and her two remaining companions left the building.
