These are a cpl photos I took spontaneously last night as part of some recreations of cliffhanging scenes I don't film for Adventures. I have the advantage in the apartment I live in to have a hatch I can use for cliffhanging or for putting a spade or plank of wood over the opening, suspend a rope to it, put my upper body harness on and have at it. You can see a stepladder and a spare door I use to get the height I need.
I always have a mirror facing the scene I create and a couple of lights either side to ensure I see the boots I'm wearing during the dangling scene - my boots have to be shiny ad reflect off the light well for the full effect.
As is the case for necessity, I keep either a flick-knife or carpet cutter in my pocket or a barbecue lighter to make the necessary cuts / burns to the rope and increase the excitement of the scene.
I recently bought some cheap ratchet straps from a local store that's so cheap, it's not even strong enough to support my weight - I have to double it up. However, all I need to do is cut 1 strand of the ratchet strap that the whole thing slowly but surely unravels and get steadily weaker. I will definitely use it for a future Adventure.
