FAILED ADVENTURE - PVC rain boots stuck in bath trap, deadly "acid" starts rising

The point is it was supposed to be that the boots were at risk of flooding, however I didn't realise the water could soak through the elastic at the sides and the boots would fill up anyway. I would have used taller rubber boots but the bathtub wasn't high enough for the water to risk flooding the boots before the water would overflow the tub itself. But you live and learn.
