Because, if the next addition is water, it would result in the Inner world following the weakening wuxing cycle, which could cause some issues. However, I am far from an expert. It could just as easily be beneficial and suppress the power of the tribulations. Or the elements being added in a particular order may not enforce a cycle at all.

SF is already in most metrics beyond this content... much better Body Cultivation. Better Soul Cultivation. Probably better Alchemy as well I'm technical skills if not yet in "high cultivation skills" because he never got that far. What he really needs is a soulbind-free way to advance to spirit/ancestor/saint and study that stuff... well what he ACTUALLY needs is figure out who the fuck broke the world so hard you can only. cultivate by draining people's essence... that's the actual bottleneck and insanity xD

Dudes a puppet of the earthly Dao even moreso than Feng because remember the name of this system ' ultimate rival system'. And bro dies if he fails a mission so it's not like he really has a choice (who wants to bet that was implemented (as in jon brought over) after feng was far too open minded).

I can tell that changing from the nine rivers domain to the outside world was a difficult change and takes a lot of planning and brainpower. I'd like to say that I appreciate that the story is continually being developed instead of releasing fluff chapters for serial format continuation. Skipping decades like this chapter is appreciated because we don't need the play by play of Feng cultivating for the n'th time. I do have a gripe, and it's Jon. I don't necessarily like the repeat character but I do understand how he's the only thing that can threaten our MC besides soul damage.
