February Status!

What has happened, and what is happening with the game right now?

Goblin Layer

Well! 0.5 got released not too long ago! Featuring a new year special, with a 'dark' encounter. And yeah, I'd say we're halfway through the main story? Hard to tell though, I got the ending planned out, but there's usually a lot of improvisation between A and B.  In any case, I think it's time for the Protagonist to soon start forming some human relationships, so I've started to sketch out how that's gonna happen.


Right now, in this exact moment, I'm working on a big bugfix version. Actually been working on it for a while, but it takes time. Basically I'm playing through some parts over and over trying to break things. And then I fix them. Also looking into the stuff which has been reported on the Discord.


But what about more content, more story? Well, I'm working on that as well.


For you Patreons we also got a story poll going on over here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/story-priorities-97677004 .  The previous poll was a great success, so I figured I'd run some more.


Basically I got a bunch of plotlines that will probably be in the game at some point or another,  but why not let you guys decide what you want to see first? Right now a trip south seems to be in the lead...


I'm gonna let the poll run a bit longer, and while I'm eagerly awaiting the results, I'll work on some events around town.

Blender & More

On another front my Blender skills has gotten less shit, and man, it's gonna be nice to not be limited by my current 3d program in the future.


In addition to Goblin Layer, I'm also working two small side-projects. One involving a contemporary athletic tomboy, and another set in a somewhat grim and dark future. These will be very short games,  with limited scope, as I don't want them to steal any Goblin dev time. But if the majority want more, I could always develop them more later on. Still a while to before there's anything playable though :).


Currently in the phase where I collect a bunch of ideas in a big document, and also creating the 3d characters/props/environments. The idea is that the scenes will be fully Blender-Rendered and the game itself be made with Ren'Py. I think experience with both those programs will come in handy in  the future :)


Can't really give any deadlines for the side-things, since GL still takes priority, and it depends on how much free time I got and all that. But hopefully some prototypes will be out in a couple months? (Maybe). Also, as I might've mentioned, I had this idea for a 'goblinpunk 2069' type of game, but I might make it Goblin Layer special episode in RPGM instead, think it might be more suitable.



But in any case, Goblin Layer will get bugfixes and new town events soon, and later on, a desert adventure! (judging by poll so far).

Hmm… for that (not too) grim dark project, I’m definately hoping it’s Battlemace 42 million. I’d favor following a lowly guardsman/Cainite Commissar somehow saving a bunch of lovely ladies to form his Dark Tide team… Though whatever you cook up will likely do more than well enough.
