As always, here's the monthly status update!
Long story short, I've been working through many immoral Blender tutorials, been working on the story, and worked a lot on the models and stuff behind the scenes.
This means things like creating the models, creating outfits, building the scenes and props, rigging the characters (making them animation-ready), texturing & shaders, fixing issues with the model, testing various ways of making the physics work as I want, and so on.
After some testing, I also decided I'll avoid Unreal5 for rendering Goblin Layer scenes, because it's too time-consuming to port over all the assets at this point, but I might use it for a future game.

It's also summer, so I've occasionally been going outside to get some vitamin D and socialize with people as well. I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me.
We also had a poll on which new voice/sound effects you preferred, there was a clear winner, and I'll be buying the package that won .

Anyway, there's a new Patreon version of the game up: 0.56, in which the Ch7 story continues, and also brings in 4 (or 5, depending on how you count) new animations and a bunch of new renders... The story isn't over yet, hopefully it'll be worth your time. Previously, I've tried to release "main quests" all in one go, but there was just too much else going on, this time around.
0.56 also introduces a new unique title menu. Well, I guess most versions of the game have had a unique title screen, but this one's unique-er.
Regarding bugs: I've got a bunch of Bug Reports that have been collecting digital dust for like a month or more now. I've shelved them as I've been too busy making the new story stuff, but I'm going to work through the backlog in the coming 1-2 weeks.
So in summary... you can expect the next update (0.56.5) to bring in a whole bunch of Bug Fixes and general polish, add some extra content to the 'spicy' scenes from 0.56, and fix an audio issue with one animation.
Then 0.57 should wrap up the Chapter 7 (Desert) storyline.
After this, we'll begin the 'Human Relations' part of the story, which will be a significant turning point.
Also, 0.55 will go public soon as well :-)
