September Post! Fallin' down


We're beginning to enter Autumn! At least where I am at the moment.

And if we consider the early versions of the game to be the Spring period, and middle ones to be Summer, we're currently moving towards autumn in-game as well...

Okay, anyway. Let's move on to the development status update. I'm gonna be real with you here.
This game has always been janky as hell, and probably always will be. Like, I just recently noticed a typo in the welcome note you see after the prologue, and it had been there since like version 0.1.

However! I got sidetracked last month, and I've been spending a lot of time tinkering, fixing and improving various things. Will I jinx things by saying the game's main storyline is the most polished now, that it has been in a long time? Starting with 0.56.5, and with further improvements in the latest Patreon Version. We'll see. But I've been going through event handling, effects, combat balance, environments and things like that to create a smoother experience.

I've also done a lot of Blender work, but I'll try to not rant about that this time...

In regards to the Story, it's had this "goblin of the week" approach to it right? You know loosely connected, mostly self-contained episodes. Like an episodic TV-show. The gang deals with some new goblin menace, Goblin Layer gets robbed of his gold by the Succubus, a new addition for the Cave and so on. I mean things are moving forward to be sure, but the overarching plot has been fairly subtle, mostly hinted at.

However once Chapter 7 is wrapped up, I think the overarching plot begin to make itself know.
There will be some events at Farm Girl's Farm, a truly inspired name, which sets things in motion.
Something's up in the Capital, will the Protagonist ever be able to form normal human relationships, what happened to the missing men*... and so on.

*yea, that plotline hasn't actually been dropped


Rewriting & Remaking:
Maybe not the two most exciting words, but let's be frank here. Some of the early 3D art is not fabulous & first impressions are important after all. At least I am personally unhappy with how it looks. And the prose could see some improvement as well.

Thus, I'm going replace some of the early stuff with improved Blender-renders, & and also look over the writing. For example, the townspeople. I'd like to add a bit more "build-up" to avoid the feeling of people just throwing themselves at you at first eye-contact. At least for the ones where build-up makes sense. For some of them the current behavior is fully in character, take Blondie for example... and Sorceress still really needs to refill her ingredients... and Goblins are Goblins... and so on. But for the more prudish, or prudent, ones, I'd like a slower escalation towards the spicy things. Anticipation can be nice after all.

New story-content will of course still be priority one, but whenever I got some free time, I might renovate an early scene or two.
