Hello, hello!
What is happening with Goblin Layer at the moment? There's a pretty big update on the way!
0.57.4 should be out this month, and with it comes a lot of changes. UI, attributes, combat, skills, enemies, encounters, maps, items, weapons, armor, armor augments, muscle augments, minigame(s?), π as a gameplay mechanic (Church Maiden will explain), a cutscene or two, tech upgrades, deep lore, saucy sprite art... even some new fonts (optional) and so on.
I think most interesting of all, will be the "Physical Encouragement" skill for the party, which should make combat interesting even for the people who usually skips it. I'll put it like this, the "encouragement" will be accompanied with 3d renders and eventually animation, and you can probably figure out what kind. It will have a progression mechanic, where it starts off kinda stiff and awkward, and the more intimate you get with the companions, the more intense the encouraging gets.

It will take some time to make all artwork, but once it's done, I think it'll bring in a quite 'satisfactory' gameplay loop, which lets gameplay and "plot" go hand-in-hand.
Will 0.54.7 be a bit rough around the edges? Most likely, but I'll do my best to release something that you can get to playing right away.

And you may think "this month"? Yes, I'm not saying an exact date, because something always fucking comes up when I do, but finishing it up this month is the plan.
Anyway, that's pretty much it for this status update. I can mention in regards to the overarching plotline, I'm also currently working on Ch.8, the turning point in the story, in which there's an attack on the town & farm, a series of not particularly unexpected events happen, the Mission Madame may get a bit passionate depending on you dialogue choices, and most importantly, the townspeople may hold an intervention and the protagonist may or may not learn the value of human relationships.
Until next time!
Or wait. I forgot to mention. I'm gonna make some small changes to the Patreon soon.
I decided that the Supporter tier will get access to the Public version 5 days before the actual Public. Y'know, normally it would go free/public & then straight to Itch.
In the future, the Supporter tier will get it 5 days before that happens.
Just a small extra benefit... which will also benefit me. I'll have some more time to find bugs before the public version gets spread all over the internet.
If you're Steel or higher you steel get the latest Patreon update before anyone else. So its the same as before. The 5 day thing is just for the free version.
Ignore the floating candle stick. It's a work in progress...
