Monthly Status Update: April!

Finally. Am I right.

I've been a bit silent during the start of this month.

Basically I was like, yeah, I'll finish the update first and then I'll be social. But I really underestimated the amount of work that was needed. Speaking of which, I'm gonna need two more weeks. I've been busy de-extincting Direwolves, and...

Just kidding, this isn't George RR Martins blog.

Or I didn't joke about underestimating all the work that was needed, but my point is that the new update is out now:

---> 0.57.4.

Unlike the Winds of Winter. That update speed is even lower than a Patreon game.

Back to Goblin Layer:

This update is a bit special. Basically everything related to the gameplay has gotten overhauled. Skills & stats & mechanics, UI, enemies, added 🍆, loot, fonts, whole code plugins have been thrown out, and new ones added... there's also underwear and tactical bows with attachements now. I think I'll write a scene for Anvil related to those at some point.

Additionally, New dialogue, some improved old dialogue and cutscenes as well.

I've mentioned it before, but I think the best new addition will be the 'physical encouragement' skill, which should allow for some progressively spicy interactions with all the party members and also come in handy(?) during fights. Combining gameplay and "plot"! Currently the framework is in place, and I'll get to rendering right away. Priestess will be first out, as I'm planning to make some improvements to Barrel and Anvil's 3d-models.

You should start noticing some different thing directly in the prologue.
I think I'll leave it at that and people can check it out for themselves (or read the very long changelog).

I will mention it's still a bit rough though. Side-effect of changing too much. I've playtested it up until chapter 5. But even in this state, I think there's still a lot of new content to explore. Also, luckily, I got some free time this month for once. Just need to do my taxes, but besides that its fine.

So I will try to speedrun the next update, in which I'll add:

🍆 Art & animations for the first tiers of the 'Physical Encouragement' skill

🍆A "Lockpicking" mini-game with Priestess

🍆 Lots of polish

🍆 This update also added a bunch of new animations during the prologue, I'll probably tweak them a bit until next time. You always notice some things after the rendering is done.

🍆 Playtest the remaining chapters and fix bugs

🍆 Re-introduce chapter select (it's temporarily closed for renovation)

🍆Expanding on what I've added in 0.57.4. Like more loot, skills, etc.

More long term, I'm working on setting up Chapter 8, which will be a significant turning point, and a trigger for the 'human relations arc' of the story.

And yeah, my apologies, but you're gonna have to start a new game for this one. There's just no way to make it compatible with old saves.

I ran in a bug on this update in the cheese ruin when I click on goblin by hanging cage and pit. I post the error on F95zone.
