Interstellar | Full Reaction

Hi everyone! I have to say that this quickly became one of my FAVORITE films and one that I will probably rewatch once a year just because it's that great. It's one of those movies that leaves you staring at the wall for an hour afterwards questioning reality 😅

I love this reflection! This is definitely one of those rare films that really grows on you even over time. I've rewatched this movie twice now since this first initial viewing and I love the deeper messages that I keep finding in it. You're so right- there are definitely multiple sequences here that feel like pure cinematic beauty. It's awesome how Nolan and Zimmer crafted something that isn't just visually stunning but also so emotionally powerful in a way that just keeps you in that moment. At my theatre near me, they are showing a film about Zimmer called: Hans Zimmer & Friends: Diamond in the Desert. It shows some of his live performances and Interstellar is included in that! It's in March and I can't wait to go see it in a theatre where I know it'll be bumping haha.

I saw this in theaters back in 2014 when I was 22 and I wasn't really sure what I was getting into. I still feel like the experience was so overwhelming that I was kind of dumbfounded and huge aspects of it just didn't fully connect. I liked it as a movie - you know, the effects and the music and performances and sci-fi ideas - but it didn't "hit" me, if you know what I mean. But I keep returning to it, and each time, that emotional core becomes strong and stronger. It's still an overwhelming experience every time, but I'm better equipped to deal with that now, the rush of emotions of hope and loss and love. There's so many ideas at work here, all of them somehow connected by this thread of generational love for one's children, it's so beautifully moving. Plus, there's about 6 or 7 sequences in here that are just astounding cinematic moments.

This was such a good movie to rewatch along with your reaction. I still remember watching this in theaters when it first came out. This remains one of my most favorite movies of all time. Kip Thorne, a Theoretical Physicist who was a Scientific Advisor to this film, wrote The Science of Interstellar to help explain the phenomena shown in the movie. It's a good book to read.

I love your use of Gargantuan LOL. I'm glad you loved this reaction! This was 100% a masterpiece. I think the best part is exactly like you said, though-- There is so much factual science and physics in this movie that it leaves us with so many open-ended theories and discussions. I'm hoping that it comes to a theatre near me in December like they originally planned for the 10 year anniversary. I'd absolutely love to see this in the theatre!

I posted this on your YouTube channel last week and enjoyed it so much... here I am. I am 54 years old and this is my favorite movie of all time. As another commenter has said, this movie tears your heart apart if you are a father. But, I also feel it heals you with hope and an expansive love. There is a massive amount of science and potential quantum physics in this movie (LOVE IT) that pulls an intellectual viewer deeply into so many different thoughts, that you can spend a GARGANTUAN amount of time deciphering these many aspects our universe. I also thoroughly enjoyed your reaction and opinion of this masterpiece in cinema. Much Love, Kali.

One of my favourite movies ever. Finally found the time (and proper tissue supply) to watch this one again after all those years, and having your reaction on screen2 was a wonderful experience, thanks for this! It's such a gem of a movie, the performances are incredible, the visuals quite literally mind-bending and the score is, well, Hans Zimmer magnificent (still have no idea how BioWare managed to get him aboard for the next Dragon Age...have to tear myself away really hard from the idea of him and Mass Effect...that would be some dream). I also really liked the design of TARS and his robo buddies. It's always neat when the designers look past just making a humanoid robot and instead come up with something very different. And I obviously loved Brand's speech. I think she's right. Love transcends space & time and probably everything else this universe would like to throw at us. It makes us brave, fills us with hope, and is our one superpower that can save the world.

Movies like this make me wish I could put the music into my reaction because without it, it just doesn't do it justice! The score in this entire film was a masterpiece.. I can't wait until December to hopefully see it in the theatre. It has to make it so much more powerful and amazing. I'm jealous of the people that got to see it in theatres for the very first time lol

Really really enjoyed this full watch-along! Getting to experience this masterpiece again, with your reactions, WITH the full force of the music blasting during all of it. So good! Especially everything coming together during my favorite sequence in the film that I always rave about haha. Thank you for all the hard work you put into these. I know it can't be easy sitting and being so present, and so detailed with all your thoughts during such a long movie. It's very much appreciated!

Loved the reaction, I responded the same way on my first watch. This movie is definitely in my top 5 for sure. One of my favorite story beats of the movie was Mann's (aptly named) character. He was supposed to be the best of humanity as the pioneer and leader of the Lazarus Mission, but he also embodied the worst part of it as well. His incredibly selfish actions jeopardized the entire mission because he couldn't stand being lonely and irrelevant.
