He did not. Rick seemed a little uncomfortable with the whole thing. He was very nice, but clearly overwhelmed by it all.
Story time: The Q&A was only open to a small group of us who had purchased a VIP ticket, which I’m not ashamed to admit I did. I was confident that this would be my only chance to ever meet Rick Moranis and it was a good excuse to travel to San Antonio. Anyway, before the Q&A began, a group of literal and figurative assholes came onstage (they were dressed like Spaceballs with the round white helmets and all). They gave Rick a bunch of trinkets and fake awards, including a jar of jam, and he was just awkwardly standing there with all of this junk gathered in his arms. Then he dropped one of the things on the stage. I have the video somewhere, I’ll have to dig it up. It just summed up the problem I started having with these cons, mainly the nerds in charge making it about themselves.
Oh, and yea, definitely talking about the Paul Reubens doc 😅

Curious if Rick Moranis commented on the Candy shirt! Also hope we get to hear about the fleeting moment with Paul Reubens during the next Movie-Catch-up where we'll *fingers-crossed* get to hear your full take on the Pee-wee as Himself doc!

A lot of memories at Helium. Regrets on never seeing Gilbert on stage. However, happy to say that I met Paul Reubens at Chiller, Adam West at a toy show (and then again at a smaller con), and Dan Aykroyd at a liquor store. Dan signed my CED VideoDisc of Ghostbusters.

You need to have one of you shaking hands with a celeb and photoshop in the Epstein Island temple as the background

Really cool at one of these conventions, Joe was reunited with his long lost father Rick Moranis.

The entire climate of "nerd culture" has changed so significantly over the past 10 years that I no longer even want to be associated with this stuff. Fandom ruins everything.

Pardon me while I try to live vicariously through you, you got to meet at least four people that I can't, now that they're dead. Also I like the way you dress.

This used to be me as well with some celebs going to Comic Cons on a regular basis growing up. I definitely share a lot of Joe's sentiments on how the whole dynamic has changed and have become jaded to a lot of that world as a "fan" of anything now. I've made some great memories but I've also participated in my fair share of cringe in my younger years in these situations. Those sort of things seem really important when you're a young geeky kid like me and then you grow up and the sheen of it all has worn off and you see the strings being pulled.
