Philosophy of breast weight

I’m sheepish. Perhaps every artist is sheepish when their artistic debt is owed. The owing being to the myself, the universe, and to you all. I’m reading a biography on the Victorian writer George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans’s pen name) and she describes time not spent on art as wasted gold. For the past two months, I’ve been applying for my master's and it’s taken all my artistic energy. It makes me angry but there’s nobody to be angry at, I simply want badly to film and to be golden.

My applications are all due in a few days so I’m renewing my artistic exercises on philosophizing about bras and bathing suits. My big sister just bought me this awesome one-piece bathing suit and this new (or should I say revisited) technique of creating cleavage really interested me. I made some drawings to explain my point.

In the 90s and 2000s, bathing suit tops had two tear-drop shapes attached by a string and fastened at the neck. They tried to manufacture cleavage by having the weight of the breasts pulled to the center by the tension of the string that was held up by the neck. This wasn’t very effective and would “force” me to pull the string extremely tight around my neck to get any cleavage while obviously hurting my neck.

This new green suit does something new. Instead of a teardrop shape, it’s a continuous wrap that puts all tension from the underside of the breast tissue and pulls it to the center. I think this technique is similar to vintage bathing suits and even corsetry. Before push-up bathing suits and bras, you used tension from under the breast to move the tissue up. This green suit has no padding but it easily does a similar job without added bulk.

To clarify, bathing suits that hold tension at the neck pull at the sides of breast tissue to make cleavage. Corsetry and this cool bathing suit puts tension under the breast tissue and moves the tissue up. Push-up bras have built-in padding that uses the same effect by placing padding under the bottom tissue but at the cost of a heavier, harder garment.

I’m excited about this! It weirdly makes me want to cry. I really like learning about new and old ways people crafted clothing to look desirable. I guess it’s my passion!

Bonus:

I added a pic of myself in my new zero cleavage good-for-posture bra that I wear when I wanna be comfy. The bra experts at the specialty bra store told me that apparently red does NOT show when you wear it under white. I don't understand the science behind it but it’s true.
