October Work in Progress: 3

(Edit: I just updated this with a more current pic, as not much physically has changed, but has more things mocked up now, and I didn't want to make a separate post for just that, ballparking about 50% done x'D
~Pipes)

I've been doing a lot of asset sketching for the Orca, and I have the silhouette/form I want to convey with it for at least the base mech set up (first render). Weapons not withstanding now I'll go through and rework/remodel the grey pieces (excluding the main weapons)
I just wanted to get this up as it's mostly the aesthetic direction I'm gonna be working with for the upper half so if you're not about it you'll know now xD

A few answers to the common Q's on the discord:

This will have two "heads" so to speak. A central sensor orb in the chest, and a retractable secondary head at the top, similar to the Beluga setup, but modeled closer in style to that of the goby head when deployed.

There will be an undermounted and held heavy variant for the main cannon, as well as the shoulder mounted style shown here. Missile racks will at least have the thigh/shoulder wrap, and potentially undermounted variants. For the held variant I'll be doing a couple proposed arm sets as those are one of the more difficult pieces to set up.

I might be re-running the DPS effects from the narwhal with this as they should be for the most part, cross compatible~ (some might need a little work, but most shouldn't~)

The rendered base is a 170mm oval, it's a big chungus, but it's not quite the biggest chungus. While I don't think I'll be modeling the biggest chungus, I will possibly be making an add-on for this kit with the addition of some numbers you'd need to scale it up by to make something akin to that if I have the time (or later on if I don't)~

Very nice, like always! Will there be big parts to print with big printers? It would save time to print "one piece" parts :-)

Jan Ludwig

It looks awesome! Can't wait to see it with all the details added to the main torso.

Kyle Bentley

That's reassuring! Thanks ^__^

Paul Ovidiu

Nah, that waist is as almost as thick as an entire koi torso. As far as structural integrity goes, if you manage to break that waist, you either dropped the piece to the floor, or you're physically trying to break it, in both cases, way more points of contact on the kit would fail before that part does~

Poyper

I really love the direction you are taking this model in, with all the weapon positions (gives me Titanfall vibes that gives me shivers of delight) and that I can finally have a viable model for competitive play. Keep up the good work. My only concern would be the abdomen part connecting to the top part. From the current state of the WIP and angles, it makes me think it's going to be a very sensitive area. Are you going to make multiple contact points to support the very top-heavy torso? Or are you going to increase the size of the torso? Possibly a version with a torso or abdomen slot to help reinforce contact points?

Paul Ovidiu

No worries~ in this case it's just that I've started working on that area~

Poyper

oh ok, then I misunderstood, thought everything in color is already done

Exo

I haven't even begun to integrate/remodel that section into the body yet, it's really just an asset pulled from the recon drone, basically floating there. That said I'll probably have an option with a more minimal canister/power supply~

Poyper

Will there be an option for the "battery" in the back? The aestethics is just akward with a huge cylinder coming straight out of the waist/back - it just don't fit to the rest. Some more circular shape approach as option would be nice or a option to reposition more in a "backpack" way instead of protruding from the waist.

Fabricio Calvo Silva

Because it's just the blocking, I haven't even begun to detail those pieces out yet xD

Poyper

I think the front / the middle area looks way too smooth and empty. Does not fit the rest of the body in my opinion

JAW DROPPER

James Rowley

fantastic work on this man! love your interpretation of the T'au!

Kanan Nallainathan

It looks so powerful and cool! Thank you for all the effort you put into creating this model! Stay safe!

YourMagnet_adult_version

Well, it looks better and better every time! Glad you keep doing it, looking forward to seeing the final version

Naked_SoNUshka

The things i will do with this.

Brandon Stone

Absolutely amazing!!!

Oliver Navarrete

Will it have an option for a third back mounted cannon... in case I wanted to proxy the biggest changes. Also some head variations, you mentioned that the secondary head was going to be similar to the goby, I think the silverfish head, the not round one, would be a nice alternative 😊

Andrew Guilbert

I 100% love the "Thunder Thigs Missle Racks" the literal clap of them cheeks will bring down titans!

Damion

JAW DROP! D#@* he thick, he thick yall. That boy is thick.

Big Dadi

I just spilled my drink being mesmerized by this awesome display of firepower. Absolutely loving it. Thank you so much for all your hard work. But if I may add, please never say 'never' on the bigger one. You style and incredible designs make me want to see what your skill would accomplish with those larger items. You are very skilled and amazing ty again :)

Soulwraith

Please make the Energy cell on the back modular or alternative bits - it looks a little bit like a battery in a duracell bunny ^^

Fabricio Calvo Silva

I love this, I can't wait to mega print this too

vdark5

I am absolutely loving this!

Daniel Sniadoski

Hehe that does look thicker than the first render looked like so I'm happy! Will there be any options for big shoulder mounted racks of missiles? Maybe with doors that swing open like you did for the smaller guys? Looking good!

Reza Chan

I haven't had the chance to print anything in a while, but your designs always make me giddy for the day I can fire up the printers again. These look awesome. Especially the missile thighs!

Emanuel Rolland

Keeps looking better and better
