[October Release] Orca Class Heavy Weapons Platform

EDITED post is at the bottom.
TL:DR Orca fileset is up on CG&T

These renders take so long to process. My CPU has been running 100% load for the past day now xD I've finally wrapped up the Orca kit. It's currently in the hands of Atlas for those sweet pre-supports. Once I have those back I'll be test printing everything in the kit to make sure it all works, I'll be uploading it to CG&T I'll do a pinged edit of this once those two things happen~

This is a beastly one at almost 100 pieces to the kit and  around 100+ pieces per assembly general assembly. Not including supports or hollowing, each Orca is around 450-500ml or resin as an estimate from Lychee. It is big, and I've rendered it alongside some of my previous mecha (The OG Narwhal, Koi (who is just happy to be here), Sturgeon, and Watchmen Gobies for scale reference.) I'm honestly quite proud of the final with all the ways it can be built which are too numerous for me to render out. Not shown are the underarm mounts for the sub weapons/missiles, and a few other bits and bobs.
I know I say every time that I'm excited to see what folks will do with this one, but I am really excited to see what folks do with this kit, be it scaling up or down, mixing and matching.

I also do not plan to do any kits larger then this  But will be adding a few weapon add-ons to this for the upscale enthusiasts, but I'm going to let the kit sit for a bit before getting into it again. The amount of work that goes into it, the time it consumes, are just a bit too much for me currently to do anything at a larger scale. The plan now for the rest of the month outside of the Orca is to stick to my schedule (posted on the discord) With some flying auxiliary themed mech around the scaling of the gobies. It's a simpler kit with little in the way of options (different thruster packs, possible compatibility with the existing goby kits, etc. etc.), and I should have ample time left to flesh it out over the rest of the month.

Thanks for being so reasonable with me needing more time into October to finish up this kit, I think it's worth the wait~

(On a last note, I've gotten a handful DMs now on here and Discord, but I have zero intention of releasing preposed files for anything outside the scale of infantry based models. I won't be elaborating on this, as it was never my intention to do so, these were only ever supposed to be for posing reference, and as such are filled with old geometry/non-manifold objects, complete lack of finalized pieces, etc. etc.)

EDIT: The Orca should be live on CG&T.  I've tested everything print wise, and it should all work together now assembly wise.  It is a very big kit. It uses a lot of resin. And while I've test printed and adjusted/fixed all the pieces as needed, If your printer isn't dialed in, you might have some tolerance issues, especially on a kit this physically large. I highly recommend dry fitting everything prior to final assembly. Some pieces might need some light sanding if they're too tight. Nothing should need to be forced. I did not include a base with this one because the 170mm oval bases are huge, but I'll probably add one to the discord add on files board later. For now I want to finish the little mechs I'm working on, and not print something that large again. I'm burnt out on this big lad xD

With regards to DeadlyPrintStudios, once I hear stuff back from DPS I'll add updates here in regards to the effects pack. (Which will be part of Octobers pack regardless of when DPS finishes that effect set, it could be done in December, but if you were subbed from Oct1st-31st, it'll be in your library xD

Now, as I said at the end of the build guide, ~Good Luck~

ok thank you

Cameron Blaich

You need to mirror the obj files, lychee is still working out a universal mirror for their lys files~

Poyper

question, how do we mirror the legs on the preplate without destroying the supports? I know lychee is dumb in this respect, how did you go about it?

Cameron Blaich

Wow, this is ludicrous. Thanks! I can upscale parts I like more for my KX139 I've been putting off due to weak ankles.

Frozen foods

The largest pieces are already hollowed~ (main body, internal hip, and a few of the weapon bits if memory serves) but even still, fully assembled, this thing is a brick xD

Poyper

Do you recommend largest pieces like the chest and legs be hollowed out to save on resin and weight?

SynnerG

Yes, Christmas gifts already in October!!!

Exo

The "where" is https://comicsgamesandthings.com/accounts/profile/downloads/ But as Piper said, october release isn't available, yet *sob* ;) But I am sure, it will be worth the wait...

Thank you kindly. Looking forward to seeing the Tuna weapon addons (I can understand needing a break on this guy)

Serosaken

Tuna-ification at around 1.4 scaling~ ~Pipes

Poyper

Looks great Pipes! You mentioned previously you may post the scaling to get this up to the "largest" size. Would you be able to provide that in the download Readme? (Apologies if its been mentioned elsewhere)

Serosaken

I just stocked up too, I'm probably gonna be eating through 2-3L's for just the test printing x'D ~Pipes

Poyper

I've always been excited for the months release, but this time I'm really excited. I can't wait to print this. Good thing I just stocked up on resin.
