My buddy Edgar writes cool stories of this genre we love. Some of his stories are very simple and others are really complex, and he often explores new and ingenious ideas to make his damsels always get into the kind of trouble we like. He sent me a bunch of his stories and asked me if I could share one with you, the one I liked the most and definitely this one was awesome, like a movie script, check it out. You can find a bunch of his stories at his Patreon here: patreon.com/EdgarMidgarArt

"The primitive duality of man"
By: Edgar Midgar
The night stretched on endlessly for Detective Naomi Gyllenhaal, a harrowing chapter in a series of exceptionally violent incidents. Dubbed 'The Cannibal of Cortlandt Alley' by the media, the murderer had claimed two more victims, bringing the tally to a chilling ten in just two months. The grotesque scenes haunted Naomi, yet a relentless determination urged her to act swiftly before the elusive killer struck again. Working alongside her seasoned partner, Henry Donovan, a respected police officer, Naomi found solace in his expertise. However, that fateful night demanded a division of efforts, with each detective assigned to one of two crime scenes.
Naomi delved into an alley, the scene of her investigation, and faced an apparent dead end. The main avenue seemed the only plausible escape route for the perpetrator. Yet, her intuition hinted at an unconventional path—she spotted a sewer entrance. Overcome by an irresistible impulse, she unscrewed the lid and descended into the murky depths. In the subterranean labyrinth, she stumbled upon a cryptic graffiti: 'I learned to recognize the thorough and primitive duality of man.' The murderer's penchant for leaving enigmatic clues strengthened Naomi's resolve.
As she ventured further into the damp and shadowy sewers, another message greeted her in a maintenance room: 'It was the curse of mankind that these incongruous (censored) were thus bound together—that in the agonized womb of consciousness, these polar twins should be continuously struggling.' Naomi's realization dawned—these cryptic clues are a message from the murderer addressed to her.
Her revelation proved short-lived as an unseen assailant struck her from behind, plunging her into darkness. Naomi gradually regained consciousness, only to find herself bound to a chair, helpless and gagged. Naomi struggles but the ropes keep sinking into her skin painfully, and her screams for help are muffled by the cruel gag. After an hour Henry, her trusted partner, entered the room. Naomi makes a muffled sound thinking he was there to save her, but immediately she notices Henry is not alright, he looks almost as someone else with an unsettling demeanor. Henry moves his lips trying to produce words and finally with hoarse voice almost demonic Henry says "I'm sorry" and produces a knife. Panic seized Naomi as Henry approaches to her with the knife in his hand, but as soon as he approached enough he cut the ropes that restrained her ankles, collapsing in the process. Naomi, now with her legs free, watched in horror as his face distorted and his eyes took on an unnatural reddish hue.
With the last of his strength Henry says one single word that makes sent shivers down her spine: "Run!" A realization dawned upon her—the references in the graffiti were excerpts from "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde." Naomi sprinted through the sewers, still bound and gagged, as she heard Henry's agonizing transformation behind her. Henry was turning into someone else, or something else.
Bound and defenseless, Naomi knew escape was imperative. She faced the transformed Henry, a grotesque manifestation of the duality described in Stevenson's tale, and the pursuit of the demonic entity persisted through the fetid waters of the sewer labyrinth!
