The way New Yorkers brunch is very particular.
The Time
In other places, brunch is defined as eating food between breakfast and lunch. In NY, it’s defined as eating breakfast food at lunch time. Most New Yorkers brunch between 1–3pm. 11am (right when the restaurant opens) can be too early for a lot of folks.
Location
Very neighborhood-oriented. New Yorkers don’t like to travel during the weekends. So they usually stay within their neighborhood. So no matter where you are in the city, all brunch spots will be full. Make sure you have reservations if reservations are available.
The Food
If it’s on the menu, order the Eggs Benedict or whatever name they christened this dish as. I think this is the brunch item that has so many variations it’s hard to keep up . Every restaurant I’ve been to has their own take on this dish.
