Upgrades! And Progress!
Added 2021-02-28 02:28:22 +0000 UTCHi, patrons! For the past few weeks I've been getting intermittent crashes on the web server, and the database that holds all the scale names and other stuff. It didn't always cause a 500 error, sometimes it merely manifested as a PHP error on the scale detail pages. It was time for an upgrade to increase the CPU and RAM ... which I did tonight. Thanks to all my patrons for making it possible! Your donations are sufficient to cover the increased server costs (which frankly isn't a LOT) so I can keep things available with better uptime.
Lately my focus has been on importing a bunch of new scale names -- I added about 200 of them tonight from a book I got, including lots of new stuff from musical traditions of Southeast Asia, Azerbaidjan, Myanmar, Turkey. I also have a whole bunch of YouTube videos that need to be re-rendered as a result of errata. I'm going to work on those over the next few weeks & months.

Even though I have created a lot of music I'M just getting started to learn the deeper stuff of music theory. Your site is a huge help, because it makes it possible for me to study the scales and the theory in my own way, without having to read several (for me) very dry books.
