Adding credits to the new videos
Added 2019-11-05 04:34:22 +0000 UTCHi! Just wanted to let all my patrons know, that I'm busy rendering all the new "scale detail' videos, and patron credits are being added to the end. But alas due to Youtube upload quotas, I can not get them published as quickly as they're created; this means that the patrons of today will be added to a video that might not be published for days, weeks, or even months. It also means people who sign up in the future might feel unfairly omitted, because the rendering was done before they became a patron.
I could mitigate that by creating the videos at a leisurely pace, creating and publishing them slowly over a period of several years (a strategy that is strangely appealing), but there are some technical risks involved that I'd prefer not to deal with. Rendering the videos requires about a dozen different finicky technologies that I have perfectly configured with the right fonts and sounds and codec settings... it's best to get them all rendered right now rather than do it slowly and risk a stupid software upgrade or machine failure that ruins the whole procedure.
I did a little napkin math at the outset and figured out that it would take about 15 entire days (running my CPU 24 hours a day - which I won't do) to render all the videos, and possibly more than 6 months to upload them all. Wowza!
