Yes haha YES ft. Mattie Lubchansky
Added 2021-12-14 13:04:41 +0000 UTCThis week, we're joined by friends of the show Mattie (@Lubchansky), associate editor at The Nib, to talk about the history of webcomics, comic artists and writers having to think about being content creators before the rest of us did, and what happens when comic panels end up being cut out of the strip, decontextualised and turned into memes without attribution. How are comics writers dealing with the content economy, think about their place in it, and, crucially, what are they doing to resist its worst effects? We also talk about some of our favourite webcomics, and try to get to the bottom of Scott Adam's very sad picture of his abs.

It's also somewhat heartening to see that, given the timescale in which it was written, Chris Onstad has largely avoided the pitfalls of the content economy and, crucially, posting (though he does have a twitter account that he sometimes posts on). Just seems happy to do his art and his various local business ventures while the comic remains up online, in full, and not beholden to any platform except whatever server it's being hosted on.
