The War On Christmas ft. Jake Flores
Added 2021-12-24 12:50:10 +0000 UTCAll of us got the novel coronavirus, so this week, Hussein hung out with Jake Flores (@feraljokes), comedian and host of Pod Damn America, to talk about Christmas posts, and the broader 'war on Christmas' which seems to come earlier and earlier every year. We talk the origins of the War on Christmas - first, in response to liberalism, then to anti-Muslim sentiment, and now, being framed as a war for western tradition - and how it manifests in weird posts, ranging from Starbucks' Red Cup drama, to British people losing their minds over a tv advertisement because they don't immediately know what gender an alien is.

2021-12-25 20:35:00 +0000 UTCI went to a relatively posh Jesuit high school in suburban Chicago (you can honestly determine what school it was just based on that), and the school uniform was chinos and monogram polo shirts, which was I always thought felt extremely dumpy. Like, they didn’t go with anything genuinely preppy; instead they tried to force us to dress like golf caddies. Anyway I wore high-waisted gabardine trousers with a button-down shirt, tucked in, and a monogram zipper-front hoodie (from the anime club) as a quasi-blazer. I was also completely insane. Here’s one of my senior photos, with a non-uniform polo shirt (FYI this is from 2006, so this was to some extent fashionable at that point): https://share.icloud.com/photos/03audFQo-7MbX2gIgJdVQMaNg
