Tank Engine Elegy

We're joined this week by writer and academic Amelia Horgan, author of Lost In Work, which is published by Pluto press.  We talk about the recent drama with Reddit's Anti-Work sub, and the complications of defining anti-work movements, especially in relation to white collar digital labour jobs and the work of fuelling the content economy. Amelia talks about how we might conceive of 'work' in these spaces, and why it'll be necessary for a future filled with digital assets, pumped up crypto scams and further alienation of labour from production. We also talk about the recent discourse around whether its abusive to let your kid watch Thomas the Tank Engine if you are of the belief that the trains are sentient and anthropomorphic - only to realise that the person making these claims was, once again, getting mad at Alice.

Anyone have a link to that rachel connelly (sp?) article mentioned in the episode?

extremely good points about feminism that I have definitely noticed online - and I have lost male followers (trivial but yeah) from explicitly saying that while I agree with the critiques of liberal feminism, that does not mean that I am not a feminist and that I cannot see a lot of misogyny on the left.

My rule is that if you are mad at me, fine, but I do not want to know. keep it to yourself or in your alt account
