We also revisit friend of the show Bevvie to see what she's thinking about the war in Ukraine, and propose setting up a Devon Updates twitter account.

Which… is weird, but it’s still a fact.

2022-04-03 16:07:44 +0000 UTCRegarding being uncomfortable around Black people: I was uncomfortable around Black people when I was younger, due to the fact that I grew up in a de facto segregated suburb; other people there were bad at disguising their own discomfort around Black people; and that sort of thing rubs off on kids; but crucially I knew that my discomfort was entirely irrational and Not Good. It took living in a majority-Black neighborhood—which I guess makes me a gentrifier, though the apartment I’ve lived in since 2014 is rent-stabilized—to get used to being around Black people, and now it weirds me out when, like, my mother is uncomfortable when she visits. (My neighborhood was extremely dangerous in, like, 1990, but it is not dangerous anymore.)

2022-04-03 16:05:22 +0000 UTCI was initially confused about Fred Durst being banned from Ukraine because I was thinking of the more famous Durst, Robert Durst, who is clearly banned from most countries on earth on account of being in prison with a life sentence for murder, but also apparently as of January of this year on account of being dead. But I mean in 2001 Fred Durst killed a fan accidentally by crushing her in a mosh pit, while in 2001 Robert Durst shot his neighbor in the face and dumped his dismembered body in Galveston Bay. And, really, who’s to say which is worse?

Especially bands of Limp Bizkit’s generation and earlier. What I’m actually saying is that Fred Durst is spiritually a Boomer.
