Always a great episode when Dr. Janega is on! As an American trans woman, it's interesting (read: terrifying) hearing about TERFs in UK.

2022-06-08 15:25:11 +0000 UTCI think it's worth noting how the TERF movement has changed over the years; as much as the current strand of British TERFery is defined by out-of-touch neolib boomer mums, the people I mainly associate with the term are milennials on Tumblr who insisted that they were "true materialist marxist feminist" and that trans acceptance was a consequence of liberal pop feminism giving into postmodern idealism. In an irrational way, I'm kind of glad that boomers have become the face of the movement, because their points are way easier to refute and way less personally uncomfortable to me as a trans woman, though of course they are objectively far more materially dangerous in this form than they were as broke female-separatists yelling at teenagers on Tumblr
