Cringe Festival ft. Chanté Joseph

We're joined by writer and presenter Chanté Joseph, to talk about her recent VICE article on Cringe, and whether being cringe could in fact be a form of liberation. We talk about what it means to be 'sincere' on the internet, at a time when authenticity seems like a poor designation, and whether the appeal of cringe actually just emerges at a time when there are too many trend cycles that are happening too fast. Is this all just a crisis of performance?

It may be cringe to over-identify with Jane Austen characters, but let’s not pretend the most iconic Jane Austen characters aren’t already the definition of cringe (which is why it’s a bit on the nose).
