It's Simple: We Invent The Facebook

Welcome to another edition of the Ten Thousand Posts Film Club!

This week, we review the 2010 film "The Social Network", directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin. We discuss whether the film correctly predicted the ideological problems of Facebook that are dominant in the discourse today, as well as the stuff that the film misses (spoiler: surveillance!) as it chooses to focus on the problems that rich boys have with each other.  We also talk about the weird phenomena of the Double Armie Hammer,  the strange one liners that constantly appear on the Winklevoss Twins' Instagram page, and the weird scene that seems to gloss over the ghoulishness of Peter Thiel.  Hence, we get to our fundamental conclusion: The Social Network  and Joker (2019) are the same film.

Ten Thousand Posts is a show about how everything is posting. It's hosted by Hussein (@Hkesvani), Phoebe (@prhroy) and produced by Drew (@drewtopia_).

thanks for the kind comments! We'll definitely be doing more movie eps (theres some coming out soon!) and - while I am still yet to watch the BB show, it feels like something in our wheelhouse that we'll eventually get to

Hi, love the show. Was wondering if you were planning to do more similar episodes to this one. I've recently watched Bo Burnham's Inside and his debut feature film Eighth Grade and there's a lot of overlap in these works with issues that you bring up your show, so thought you might want to do an episode on those. I'm sure you already have a billion other ideas for episodes you want to do first though. Thanks

Ben

You’re trying to think of Eddie Redmayne in the Theory of Everything!

Armie Hammer comes from a long line of very offkey people. https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2021/03/the-fall-of-armie-hammer-a-family-saga-of-sex-money-drugs-and-betrayal/
