2023-06-02 07:55:04 +0000 UTCThe anecdote about wanting to make bullets reminds me of a story I read in a book by H.R. Giger (the Swiss artist who designed the Xenomorphs in the “Alien” films). His Dad was a pharmacist, back when it was still common for them to compound their own drugs. Preteen Giger found some scrap lead and used his Dad’s *suppository moulds* to cast bullets. Giger Senior was not impressed when he found out, as you might imagine

Sharpe had a profound effect When I did my undergrad we had a whole mandatory module about historiography and the construction of history, which was one of the most interesting they offered. lotta bad myths!
