10kposts Film Club: Ingrid Goes West
Added 2023-07-14 10:30:01 +0000 UTCThis week, Phoebe and Hussein watch 'Ingrid Goes West', a 2017 film about a young woman who becomes obsessed with an instagram celebrity. Although, as we discuss, it's not really quite like that, not least because the writers don't really know what Ingrid is supposed to be doing, or what she wants, or why she makes the choices that she does.
We talk a bunch about whether Aubrey Plaza is good or not, Hussein misremembers a line from Godzilla (2014), and we discuss what parts the film sort of got right, in this period of time where the 'influencer' is first being considered as a 'real' job.

FYI apparently SAG/AFTRA has guidelines for podcasters during the strike. I don’t know how the guidelines apply to you, but they’re probably worth looking into: https://www.sagaftrastrike.org/podcaster-faqs

2023-07-14 23:10:42 +0000 UTCYall should give "spree" (2020) a look if you're looking for more movie corner movies. Its about a Rideshare worker that is trying to go viral by killing people on stream. It's dumb and fun. And drake is the executive producer.
