10K Posts TV club: The Undeclared War

Phoebe and Hussein watch the new Channel 4 mini-series, "The Undeclared War",  which speculates on a near future in which the UK faces a severe cyber attack which "shuts down the Internet" and forces the country to face the reality of cyber warfare. The gang talks about what it gets right and what gets lost in clunky, strange dialogue. We also talk about the way the show frames mental health (bad!) it's understanding of how people engage with the internet (also bad!) and how it deals with the issue of Muslims working in the intelligence services (you've guessed it, not great!)

Pitch Perfect is indeed well outside what you would typically enjoy, Hussein. However, I do think you're correct in identifying it as a profoundly first Obamna administration movie.

Jordan Clementi

Absolutely convinced Hussein calls GCHQ "Juicy HQ" after listening to this.

Robin

It unfortunately sounds like most british dramas of the last 10 years - politically confused, poorly characterised, and frankly just embarrassing sludge by some ageing doyen who was of questionable talent to begin with

Nemo

ah but is there a 'bins mate' moment

Tovfly

I am the glee oracle, the gloracle

Rose Schmits

Im ashamed to say that if i had to pick a mastermind topic there’s no topic i know better than glee

Rose Schmits

Pleaaase talk about glee. It is my most cursed special interest

Rose Schmits

Commenting again to hard agree with Phoebe's stance on the Treblemakers

Rach

As a die hard Hustle Head though I will watch anything with Adrian Lester

Rach

Can't wait to listen to this. Gotta say I though The Undeclared War was probably the biggest waste of my time a show has been in recent years. It ends just as things actually start happening!
