Fake Friends, Fake Trends ft. Rebecca Jennings
Added 2022-09-23 09:14:02 +0000 UTCEpisode should work now sorry - Devon
We are joined by Rebecca Jennings, senior correspondent at VOX and author of one of our favorite tech newsletters, to demystify digital Trends.
Rebecca wrote a piece some time ago talking about the 'sea shanties' trend that was going around, despite this being based off exactly one tiktok video of a guy singing that was endlessly stitched and parodied, then picked up by journalists, before eventually making it to Saturday Night Live within a matter of weeks.
We also take our time to investigate the absolute depths and heights of Posting that arose around the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

the articles discussed in this episode are here and here,
and also the video of Dan Wootton laying tribute is here.
