Imho unless someone is an expert present giver then I think they should stick to the requests. I've had people go off piste and they end up getting things I find useless. Like one birthday I asked for normal ordinary plain socks, and one person got me toe socks, one person got me slipper socks and another person got me fancy socks which didn't expand enough to fit me Also at one point I did have to tell my ex (for other reasons) that he should stop buying thorntons, I just don't like it!
