Regarding the observation that Cicero would have almost certainly been absolutely insufferable in person, as well as the possibility of you doing a “Posters of History” series, George Orwell might be a good candidate for that. A lot of Orwell’s essays have the feel of blog posts to me; I reckon he would have been a blogger or a Substack Guy if he were around today. I saw a quote once, I can’t remember from whom but it might even have been from one of Orwell’s RL friends that was something like, “Orwell is a good guy, but he can’t even blow his nose without launching into a rant about how handkerchief workers are oppressed”, which gives me strong poster vibes. Also, that Orwell is the go-to source of quotes for every lazy hack out there gives him a similar sort of cultural footprint to the one Cicero has
