Ten Thousand Graphs ft. James Meadway

Economist and host of Macrodose podcast James Meadway joins us on this episode to talk about how and why economists post, and how it's changed from the blogging era to platforms. We talk about the idea of authority among economists online, whether posting has diluted the value of economic debate, and Paul Krugman's Twitter prophecy of 2013 – one that he then went on to ignore entirely.

PALESTINE AID LINKS

As the humanitarian crisis continues to unfold in Gaza, we encourage anyone who can to donate to Medical Aid for Palestinians. You can donate using the links below.

Please do make your voice heard in other ways about this. Showing up at protest marches and writing letters to elected MPs are useful acts of solidarity. Please encourage your elected representatives to support calls for a ceasefire, while still bearing in mind a ceasefire represents the bare minimum.

He shouted "BETA male? Could a beta male do this?" and then stood up and unsheathed a hitherto unseen katana. He then posed with this until satisfied that the stunned silence from the rest of the panel was him winning the argument. He then sheathed the katana and sat back down.

Haz may have terrible politics but he is a fountain of content. I first encountered him by accidentally clicking on what turned out to be a Twitch debate about veganism in which a Costa Rican vegan woman said that only beta males eat meat they didn't hunt themselves, and this cued my introduction to Haz:

Chess is a sport if and only if a given player is representing a socialist country. Does that pass the vibe check?

Elsie Hupp

Paying your cult members to spank you is definitely valid anti-imperialist praxis, though!

Elsie Hupp

so glad you asked - mainly it's vibe-based, then when the initial vibes have been established it's based on how willing I am to have a dust-up about it (- P)

Ten Thousand Posts

I really must know at this point if you have any specific criteria for what a sport is, Phoebe

Jordan Clementi

Haz is one of the dumbest people on this planet. It takes a special kind of historical illiteracy to say anti-imperialism is exclusively anti American.

InfraHaz is one of the people associated with this lot: https://youtu.be/aZyIjBxxpTY (He was not one of the people Caleb Maupin was paying to spank him.)
