Posting Through Pregnancy ft. Sirin Kale

Journalist Sirin Kale returns to the show to talk about how and why content feeds change when a social media platform detects that you might be pregnant, and how weird, often dangerous content is targeted at new parents. Sirin shares her own experiences with navigating platforms while looking after a newborn, the comfort that it can provide new parents when other institutions are absent, and how to resist the abundance of online parenting content.

The amount of medical gaslighting there is around women's reproductive health (trans and cis) is astounding to me. The number of times I've had to say "surely it can't get any worse" just to be proven wrong is jarring. My wife's surgeon (a woman, I might add) told her, to her face, that "there is no link between endometriosis and diet". Not even "there is no evidence of a link". Just, nope. It's in your head when shellfish and soy make you double over in pain. Then, my best friend's new GP looks at her chart on the first visit and goes "so it says here you've had vaginal surgery but from what I understand you're a trans woman...?" Just. Astounding.
