Update: giantessrun updates + billings paused for a month

Plans and goals changed during GiantessRun 2's development, and rewards accumulated, so I'm pausing billing cycle for at least 1 month (2 if needed) to focus on delivering the VIP & Special Offer rewards. Long text follows.

-----------------------

GR2 (GiantessRun2) was always planned to be story-driven, and having the "challenges" and update system doesn't make sense, as the story mode still gotta take a long while. So, for text, i resurrected the original GR (GiantessRun) code with legacy engine, and reimplemented the update system/server, then I would have an update-driven already-finished game (which you go already have tested before), and the story-driven can proceed with most focus from it.

I reimplemented the update DLC system into the legacy game, and.... and guess what? It worked again! The server part is back at https://[REDACTED-WORKINPROGRESS] and was ported into the new code, working just as expected: downloading the game update and DLC files.

In fact, i even found a homebrew port of Godot that allowed me to port this legacy game into a jailbroken PS Vita! That's rad! Maybe in the future I can use the legacy version of the game and build a optimized version for it, for free, for my patrons, just for fun. Why not?

With that in mind, I've started working to finish one of the requested commissioned OCs, Pamela the Badger from LouisEugenio, and her unfinished stage, Pyramid Troubles. Her level was already finished, and all needed was the assets before the legacy game went post-mortem.

So work was being made in two games with totally different codebases now... and suddenly I thought: it simply ain't right. What the f* I'm doing?

I have a legacy code that's complete - but doesn't have all physics updates and shiny things; and I have the new code that has double jumps, multi-directional springs, and runs on latest engine code - but doesn't have levels in the new format. I also have the story-driven game that would have challenges -but I'd launch 0.2.0 without the story-more part..... so what's the goal of it?

This one made me stop everything to think on a strategy. Updating a legacy code because it's ready, join everything into one game, launching a story game without story?..... and today I found a final solution.

I'm resurrecting GR's page and porting everything from the old to the new, so GR1 won't be a legacy game anymore and will always get updates, while GR2 will be purely an action-adventure game without the "Challenges" bloatware. With this, GR1 will get version v1.2.0 once every asset is reworked and all levels are ported into the new codebase, while GR2 returns into the woods until at least one story level is finished.

I'm in the process of redoing every level made in the legacy version into the new one (tilemaps, better collisions, 1080p resolution, new particle/shadow system, the gameplay updates you've seen etc). They were painfully made with giant PNGs, manual collision napping and duplicated objects which are really hard to control, and this version is really easy.

The other hard part is updating the design. I don't have just a bunch of assets i needed to finish: now I have 40+ artworks to update. It includes new character versions: every girl has differences now.

I don't have a deadline for it, but right now I know I'm on the right part: an endless-running constantly-updated codebase-latest GR1, which people who already bought the previous version can also get this one free of charge (and the URL of it is already featured in collections, good SEO) while GR2 will take the cruising speed to what I intended it to be: a comedy story-driven action adventure 2d platformer game w/experimental gameplay and silly bad jokes.

----------

In the meantime, the rewards for my VIP patrons has accumulating, so it's more work I must finish. I'll honor every one of them. I apologize for the lack of updates and my disappearing from the discord server. I'll make sure every one of yours will be attended ASAP.

For this, nothing more fair than to pause the Patreon billing for one cycle, as I use this period to deliver every reward for my beloved patrons. As of this typing, billing is paused until August 23th, that can be extended for another month, if not all benefits are delivered in time. You will still have access to everything and won't be charged for the next month, or possibly for September too if I'm not quick with my pending work.

I'll contact you on the DM list if you haven't requested your artwork benefit, Patreon has a way to alert due benefits.

Again, I apologize for this inconvenience, but I assure you the rethinking of plans and goals for my projects will pay in the end.

Will my reward I request when I was still a vip member be done despite me no longer being a vip member?
