Hey all,
I been quiet lately so sorry about that. Just wanted to check-in and post something so you know stuff is moving forward. Hit a bit of an initial writer's block trying to work out some conversational things to the story and just got frustrated. Plus, my last semester of school just started up again so I'm in that beginning rush phase right now on top of the usual internship. However, the game is moving forward because this is my sanctuary.
Here's a quick CG of Braden to fuck with everyone's expectations for the next update. Honestly, I feel like this CG is going to end up being one of my favs just because of the pit shot.
Progress
Progress feels a bit slow right now and the dialogue felt really rusty when I was writing it--especially in comparison to last update (which I felt turned out to be probably the best written one IMO). I would say I'm around 30% of the way through. It's hard to judge right now because I keep adding things as I go that just "feel right." Like usual, I've done more writing and CG work simultaneously this time in contrast to the last update so moving forward I'm around 30%. No ETA on the next update at this point because I hate breaking promises.
Updates Moving Forward
In the past, I wanted to try and get updates out by a certain date. As a result of this, I sometimes had to eliminate scenes or more complex CGs simply because they were taking too long and would set the update back. In the future, I want to do less of this. I expect to make a more educated decision on whether scenes or CGs will enhance the experience. If that sets things back, I'm honestly ok with that. While those of you that have been around for awhile understand that the current build of the game is still the overall "rough draft," I really regret not including some scenes earlier in the game that were just eliminated due to time constraints. Put bluntly: I'm not shooting for a specific release date. After last month's enormous update, I feel like I've done a pretty good job balancing things out from update-to-update. This also gives me a bit more freedom on the length of updates and how those "cliffhangers" hit. I'm hoping this doesn't affect release dates too much but I'll stay in touch like I normally do.
