I had loose plans to do a monthly piece of artwork featuring characters chosen by Patrons but, as yet, I don't have any Patrons. (This isn't quite as pathetic as it might seem, as I haven't yet announced this Patreon's existence.)
So instead, here's a con sketch I owed to my bud Zack Davisson, ace translator of many different manga but, specifically, of Ge-Ge-Ge No Kitaro by Shigeru Mizuki. Neko-Musume (cat-girl) is a prominent Kitaro character, but her appearance in the various anime iterations of the series has changed radically over the decades, as a quick image search will prove. (Seriously, her current incarnation is hilariously "waifu as all get-out," if you will.) Here, I tried to hew a bit closer to Mizuki's original manga version, but Your Mileage May Vary as to how well I succeeded on that front.
I took a few phone pix of the work in progress. Hope you'll pardon the dimly lit crappiness of the photos, as my phone's finicky camera does not work well with my drawing table's lighting. First up, here's the underdrawing, scribbled with an H-lead 2mm pencil:

And here's the inked (well, markered) version, created with Extra-Fine, Fine, and Magnum-sized Sharpies:

At some point in May, I'll put up a post asking for suggestions from Patrons, and do another piece of artwork chosen from whatever requests I rack up. (Wasn't really an option in April, alas.)
