Behold, a preview of a mock-up version of the notably ominous title spread from Empowered vol. 11. The "mock-up" bit is because I slapped the title and credits from the opening spread of Empowered vol. 2 onto the artwork for vol. 11's opener, just to see if the text would fit without overlapping any art elements. (Hence the "vol. 2" numbering and inaccurate credits.)
Unlike the typically fun and cheerful title-spread illustrations I do for each Empowered volume, this rather disquieting image helps establish the tone of this installment's grueling, action-packed, volume-long ordeal. After all, as I have long said, "Empowered is a sexy superhero comedy, except when it isn't." (And this time around, it really isn't.)
For once, I managed to work in some life drawing with this title spread, as Emp's pose is referenced from a photo of model. (Not sure where the hell I picked up said photo, though.)
As this post's "inline image" format isn't terribly well-suited to a panoramic illo, I'll also attach the mock-up as a (low-res) jpeg so you can look at it more closely.
