In a follow-up to an earlier post featuring an illo that Ryan Kinnaird and I did for an ICON motorcycle helmet, here's another image we created for the same campaign. This time I drew a vaguely Chun Li-ish "kung fu girl," complete with oh-so-classy panty shot and more than a touch of the oft-mentioned "Mysteriously Intermittent Post-Millennial Torso Glitch," a wasp-waisted bit of stylization that rampaged unchecked through my work circa the mid-2000s. (The image boasts many, many other flaws, but I'll cut 2006-ish Me some slack; hey, at least I got paid for the piece, which was a distinct rarity during those painfully lean years.)
Here's the original rough:

This time, I did find a pic of the actual helmet, which changed the artwork a fair bit (and added stripes to the undies, a classic anime "pantsu" riff):

In fact, the helmet appears to still be available for order, amusingly enough. (Not that I get any money from the sales, so I'm certainly not recommending that you buy one.) Ryan and I are uncredited for the image, but TBH I wouldn't really want to be, as the illo hails from a deeply troubled time for my art style.
