Asare and Assorra,,,, talking.
I’m sure it’s obvious rn but they never talk, Assorra had never even said a word to him. And Asare is an extremely quiet kid who is very difficult to read. All Sora knows is that Assorra had a burning hate for the boy, but Sora also knows that there’s just no point in hating Asare. He is as much a victim to their father’s decisions as she is. But still, she just never got the chance to talk to him.
The chance DID present itself eventually, however, when one day Asare went missing. Nobody knew where he was and everyone in the house (except Assorra’s mother. She’s very much alive and well btw) was losing their marbles trying to find him. This is when Assorra suddenly remembered that she had read in the book that Asare would run away from the confines of his “home” to get space and deal with his emotions in an environment that wouldn’t persecute him for expressing them (y’all know how nobles are very careful with expressing emotions and what have you) it was through one of his escapades that he met the FL in the novel and they became friends, and how the FL gained the Kwa Nishine Duchy’s support.
Because she knew this, she also knew where he tended to go, so on the day of him running away, she decided to go ahead and intervene. She found Asare exactly where she expected to find him, and tentatively talked with him. Obviously the boy was shocked as all hell to see his older sister there, not shooting venomous daggers of hate at him and instead just chilling in her nightgown, but also because he had reached a boiling point with his emotions, he wasn’t able to be as distant and expressionless as he tended to be. It’s here that Assorra came to realize that truly this isn’t just a plot to a sappy romance book. It’s real lives being affected for the sake of a story, and she did her best to comfort and let her little brother know that he isn’t alone (she’s horrible at comforting people. She tends to not know how to empathize when people have such situations cos for her she’ll think, “if u don’t like it then just run away for good why are you still here hurting urself?” So yes)
So yes! Assorra got her little brother back home and decided to actively be there for that boy and defend him from as many attacks in their household as she could. We love wholesome sibling stories.
