BABIES!!!! LOOK AT THE BABIES!!!
Ok so, as I said, Sahel, Segun and Assorra have pretty much known each other since forever ago. Segun and Assorra met when she was 5 and when Segun was 7 and Sahel was 8. They met when Assorra’s father took her to the royal palace one day bc,, idk, bring ur kid to work day or smthn? Anyway, they met and.... well, it went as nice as you could imagine.
While Segun was a responsible and serious kid, he WAS still a kid and did childish things. He liked to play outside the palace with Sahel and had cute interests. Like for example, he was obsessed with sticks. He wanted to find the strongest stick, and he would make Sahel play make-belief with him. Sahel was the wizard and Segun was the knight that would go on many adventures, or a legendary ancestral warrior that did many amazing things. When he was in the palace, he was as serious and excellent kid when it was expected if him, but when he was outside he was an adventurous little kid.
Assorra, on the other hand, was far too realistic for her age. FAR too severe. When she met Segun, she expressed disappointment that he was the Crown Prince and wondered if playing was what he did all day. This was when Sahel had to play as the mediator between the two, and worked so unbelievably hard to keep the two kids from fighting too much. He knew the importance of Segun and Assorra’s houses getting along, and at times he felt like he was the only one that did.
Yeah, either way, Assorra was, ngl, pretty terrible. Although she did know that she was supposed to be friends with the prince, she really only seemed to have criticisms for him. That he played too much. That the dragons he wanted to capture did not exist. That he wasn’t a knight or a warrior, but a prince and he should act like it. However, the line that Assorra crossed that Segun would never forgive was that she called his interest in sticks foolish and nonsensical. He swacked her with the one he was holding and Sahel had to hold him back. Whew. The beauty of childhood. Lmao
Bonus: what nobody knows is that Assorra, at that time, was actually genuinely trying to make friends with Segun. It’s just that due to how people communicatd with her, mainly her parents and teachers and how they justified these interactions (“Oh, we criticize you because we care and love you”), her way of interacting with children her own age was severely warped. This did play a part into forming Assorra the Villainess, and the act of Segun swacking her with the stick caused... a lot of internal machinations that would really form who she was.)
