Behold, a sketch-cover illo (and work stages) of Valiant's nanotech-driven character Bloodshot, drawn for the fine charity Hero Initiative, which helps comics creators in need (including a number of friends of mine, which is vaguely depressing). The piece will eventually be auctioned on eBay in the distant future, as well as subsequently reprinted in an entire Hero-Initiative-published book of Bloodshot artwork by many different comics creators.
The piece was quite clearly based on photoreference of a random "liftbro," as I find myself jonesin' for the ol' life drawing nowadays. I find myself at a bit of an artistic low ebb right now, and have little interest in drawing much of anything; I might try to do some life drawing on the side, in the hopes of reviving my presently flagging enthusiasm for "sketchery."
Note that the Bloodshot character is empowered by nanotechnology, hence the symbolic image of the wee nanomachine he's looking at. Come to think of it, I probably should've put a frame around the 'bot to indicate we're seeing a sub-microscopic object, but ehh, screw it. Good enough for a sketch cover, I say!
