A Lady’s Guide to Survival: 2

(I’m gonna start abbreviating the title to ALGTS from now on.)

After Celestria put it in the air that Lord was now the new King, he did not dislike the idea. Not at all. He decided that that sounded interesting. He would get to see how human societies functioned. Because of this, he spared everyone’s lives and they were allowed to return after all the nobles bowed in his presence.

However, Celestria knew that there would be a few noble houses that would not accept this. Ones that would do something foolish. She was not shocked to hear that her father was one of them. He and five other houses—three of which were ducal houses—wanted to retaliate against Lord and his demons to avenge their fallen king. With unfathomable anger, Celestria told off her father, pointing out the fact that he was going to die a stupid and meaningless death for a dead king, and that his actions had consequences that extended far beyond him. Eventually, he came to see what she meant. After this, she travelled to the other nobles that were planning the foolish attack and told them the same. They refused to listen.

The next morning, all the nobles were summoned by the their new king. Eerie blood red crows came to them and delivered the message. “Come to the Royal courtyard.” Feeling particularly disturbed, Celestria insisted that only she and her father should go, and her mother and little brother should stay behind in safety.

They heeded the call, and when they arrived at the royal courtyard, Celestria’s uneasy feelings were confirmed. Many dead bodies of knights and soldiers, all belonging to the five noble houses that did not accept her warning. And the five household leaders were all captured. However, what was truly horrifying was that their wives and children were also captured. When Lord came forth, he simply said, “these five bared their fangs against me. So in turn, I will take everything from them.” Celestria understood what he wanted to do, but she could not bear innocent people suffering for the foolish mistakes of five men.

So yet again, Celestria knew that she had to speak.
