Distressed damsels: EMPOWERED sketch sets, pt.2
Added 2019-08-28 13:21:02 +0000 UTCRunning short on time today, as I'm in the midst of what I hope is the final day of work on The Toughest Comic Script I've Ever Written. So, here's another hastily posted set of random Empowered DiD sketches.
Quick word of explanation: One of my regular DiD commissioners (during my darker days of little to no comics income) was cool with me doing somewhat random sets of sketch sets like the ones above, which were incredibly fast and easy for me to crank out during breaks in my "day job" work, as opposed to (vastly) more time- and attention-consuming pin-up illos or full-on comic pages. You'll be seeing many more of these in DiD Wednesdays to come, I can tell you, as I piled up a rather alarming number between formal comic pages over the years.
Not sure how old these sets are; maybe a decade ago or so. Interesting, though, to see the relatively "big head Emp" figure proportions I was using, in contrast to the very different proportions I'm using for her in current-day stories.
*Sketch set #1 was intended for "double-dipping," as I meant to reuse the poses for a full-on story I never got around to doing.
*Sketch #2's pose wound up reused in Empowered vol.4, as seen below, but without the curled toes:
*Sketch set #3 does indeed feature Sexy Librarian Emp in distress... or, should I say. Sexy Lingerie Librarian Emp, as seen in vol.3.
*Sketch #4 was a rough for a commission request of "schoolgirl-uniform Emp," almost a decade before she did indeed dress that way for Empowered and Sistah Spooky's High School Hell. Alas, I never got a scan of the finished piece, and I subsequently fell out of contact with the commissioner, so this version's all I got for ya.

Emp being a little flirty, almost like an out-of-canon shoot she's doing for Ocelotina's site for extra spending cash. That said, it's really those things that add the character and personality and make it so easy to want to learn more about Emp herself!

2019-08-28 18:17:05 +0000 UTCAs a -- *ahem* -- DiD fan there's something I've always wondered about: the majority of Emp's gags seem to be cleave gags or knotted cleave gags; is this based on early commissioner preference or you aiming for realism? (I like to imagine somewhere in the Empverse there's an villainous ex-archer with two missing fingers who learned the hard way why stuffing a gag into the mouth of a super-heroine with super-strength is a Very Bad Idea.)
