Art request sketch dump 1: The $10 tier's suggestions!
Added 2019-09-12 14:54:43 +0000 UTCFrom September art requests submitted by folks in the highest Patreon tier (though not for long, as I'm about to set up a still-higher tier), here are a trio of sketch sets featuring suggested characters.
I'm definitely hitting the limits of what my favorite Procreate brush (the Medium Hard Airbrush) can do. Problem is, I intensely dislike all the inking brushes I've tried in Procreate. So, I might A) go online to look for new brushes; B) try a Paperlike-type screen cover to see if that helps the inking experience; C) download the Clip Studio iOs app and see if that has better tools; or D) all of the above.
That Faye Valentine set was actually the first I drew, but I'll be dipped if I was gonna make that disastrous set the primary image for this post. Did not go well at all.
Ran out of patience on the Kitty/ Byleth page, as I'm kinda hitting the wall right now on cranking out random illos like this. Need to be working on something narrative-based and soon, as I'm effectively a writer who can draw, and not an artist as such; thus, I get bored really, really easily with just drawing for drawing's sake. (An upcoming sketch set features an attached note paraphrasing that sentiment, in fact.)

Totally dig how the third set looks! I'm the opposite of you though, as I'm an artist first and can't write myself out of a paper bag. ^^;;

Looks like I can't push an analog pencil any more, after getting 13pp into EMP12. Will need to figure out an entirely new (digital) work process before I can go any further.

If you dont mind me asking , are you taking a break in between Emp vols or is there some approval/green light process that has to happen before you dive in head first in to the next Vol? PS - That Byleth sketch is adorable. Made my day. :)

2019-09-13 01:38:19 +0000 UTCDid you try a cintiq with Photoshop yet? For someone used to working on paper I'd have thought the smaller drawing surface of an iPad pro would hinder you. Just my 2 cents anyway! There's a lot more brush options in Photoshop too.
