Distressed damsels: EMPOWERED vol.9's deleted bedroom cosplay scene, pt.1

Running really far behind today, folks, so I'm grabbing the only thing I've got handy on the ol' hard drive that's distress-related and features a decent scan: namely, the first half of a bedroom cosplay spanking scene removed from Empowered vol.9, mainly because I needed the pagecount for the action scenes at the end of the book.

The pages above were the original ending of the middle story "Power Stripped" from vol.9, in which Emp is pitched a frankly degrading autobio book deal by the ghost writer using the superhero name, uh, Ghost Writer.  Emp eventually figures out that the hack has been writing erotic, spanking-related fanfic about her (even including a self-insert supervill version of himself dubbed "Mighter Pen"), before telling him to f**k off and storming out of the room.

The original ending of "Power Stripped" branches off at p.104 of Empowered vol.9. If you check the first page above, you'll notice that panels 2 and 3 are different from the published version.  (The next page features only a bit of different dialogue in Ghost Writer's fanfic fantasy, but I thought I'd toss it in anyway.) Then a whole new scene ensues, depicting Emp and Thugboy's rather elaborate bedroom cosplay scenario, with our heroine roleplaying a notably demanding submissive. (Or perhaps "submissive" in quotes, given her stage directions throughout the erotic fantasy scenario.)

Next up, I'll post the rest of the scene, along with a more detailed explanation of why I felt I had to ditch it. (The main reason was for pagecount, but I had another objection or two to including it in the book.)

Hey, always cool to hear that someone's working through this account's vast backlog of posts!

Adam Warren

Long, looong since posted, I know, but I just had to say it: I love this scene a lot :) it's especially great how it plays off with the earlier one, it's great contrast comparing how she reacts to her unfortunate daily damselfication she has to put up with and the feelings about it behind the scenes with her lover Plus, it's really, REALLY damn sexy. Amazing scene

DimZebra

I always love how Elissa has issues with the whole DiD thing but she also can enjoy it as well. These days it's hard for one of us 'handle my own life/bad ass femmes" to admit that sometimes we want to not be in control and just have a nasty good time! You get yours sis!

Moondai

LOL, Emp hates the damsel aspect but loves it with her thugboy hahaha

Jack Hallows

Yeahp, took me right back to when I fell in love with the way Adam drew Emp's first lipbite, as Thugboy was reminiscing in the face of dire peril while tied to a chair, way back in the first volume's Blueberry Pancakes chapter.

While I get why you decided to scrap it, I feel like Emp as a whole feels like a reaction to DiD and powerplay as a wholly negative concept; sort of shaming the viewer for enjoying it, while simultaneously being used as a conduit for fanservice. I love Emp dearly and I understand that there's a more meta message being stated about exploitation but it's always troubled me a bit. That's why I love scenes like this, as well as Ocelotina's character arc, because they're showing the other side of things in a more positive light. That's really important, IMO, to showcasing that it's not actually kink itself, but the villainous intent of the supers in the comic that should be seen as negative. The unhinged personalities that have taken it upon themselves to live out their power fantasies in Emp's world, rather than channel those desires more appropriately. I hope that message ends up being clear to the readers. For that reason, I hope that stuff like this doesn't get axed in the future.

When Emp bites her lip in happiness, ohgodsmyheart.

KranberriJam

That expression on Emp’s face when he smacks her ‘derrière’ the first time lol!

JaggyZeroOne

Pity it wasn't included, but I can hazard a few guesses beyond page count as to why.
