DISTRESSED DAMSELS: "Sticky Situations," pt.5

With this week's post, we're continuing serialization of a 2003-ish commissioned DiD story featuring my iteration of Dirty Pair's Yuri that I've actually considered redoing as an Empowered episode, for reasons that will eventually become obvious.

You can check out the previous installment of this goofy narrative here.

(Perhaps I should point out that Yuri is canonically 19 years old, and definitely looks so in my version of the character, in response to the warning that's popped up again onscreen as I prep this post: "Patreon doesn't allow the featuring of seemingly underage characters in the context of adult content." Not sure if everyone's getting this warning, or just manga/anime-influenced artists...)

Howeva, a few words about the genesis of this story, starting out with the random con sketches that inspired it, starting below:

I can't recall if the commissioner from this 2000-ish con sketch above actually requested notoriously goofy Marvel supervillain Paste-Pot Pete (later renamed "the Trapster," disappointingly enough) victimizing the "hot pants & garter belts" version of Kei and Yuri, or if I decided to inflict ol' Pete on an unsuspecting fellow who just wanted a DP DiD piece.

Anyhoo, another longtime regular patron (though not yet a capitalized Patron) was amused by these sketches, and circa 2003 asked for a longer-form Paste-Pot Pete encounter of some sort. And lo, thus did the longest of all these commissioned, proto-Empowered comics begin— and even more amazing, this wound up being the only such narrative with a definitive conclusion. No, really!

And now, a few words about this week's pages:

With panels 2 and 3, went for some serious cheesecake imagery in pages never meant to see print, moreso than in any published DP comic. Gotta say this was a pretty refreshing change of pace that definitely set the stage for the straight-up cheesecakery of Empowered a year later.

Tape-Tom Tommy's "media fantasia" imagined scene actually went on for another page, but I found that continued scene a bit too weird and offputting to include, so I skipped it.

As with the Pint-Sized Ninja Platoon story seen here a few months ago, Distressed But Still Dangerous Yuri is an interesting riff; doing fight scenes with a restrained heroine is certainly a welcome variation from just repeating the same ol' DiD poses. While I'd love to do something like this in Empowered, Emp just isn't remotely the same level of martial artist as Yuri (or Ninjette) to pull this off on a regular basis.

Petty solid Yuri poses in panels 1 and 2, gotta say (even if Tape-Top Tommy briefly becomes the size of a Fist of the North Star bad guy in panel 2)! Bountiful boobery on a glitching torso in panel 3, alas, but not every shot can be a winner, folks.

Yeahp, that's waaaaay more buxom cheesecakery than I would've depicted in a "real" DP story, to put it mildly; don't think the license-holders would've appreciated that in a published comic. (Or maybe not, if you've seen the recent Hisao Tamaki Dirty Pair manga published in North America by Yen Press, which features the Angels sporting equally filled-out tube tops.)

Next week the story rolls onward as a presently unseen someone frees Yuri from her duct-tape hell. But who? WHO???? The answer—and I know this will shock you—might just be a tad goofy!

TOMORROW ON THIS HERE PATREON:  I'm continuing serialization of the Twitter-format prose experiment I Am Empowered, which tells tales of Emp's Year One-ish earliest adventures from her first-person POV.

Comments

I for one am 100% ok with this level of cheesecakery. Especially panel 2, page 16, and panel 4, page 20. Wow, Yuri!

One more thing: I LOVE Yuri's reflection in the first panel of page one. That's gotta be some quality duct tape!

Yo, just a heads up, the manga is through Seven Seas, not Yen Press. Single volume omnibus, Amazon has it for 15 bucks. Good read, but be warned, theres some REALLY gamy stuff.

One a comic retail note, I am DEFINITELY going to have order those Yen press volumes!

Poor foolish churl! Boasting about capturing a genetically engineered martial artist before tying off her legs.

Love Tape-Tom Tommy's media fantasy sequence, a would-be villain is allowed to have his dreams. The rivalry between him and Pete is funny as well, notably in how odd it is to imagine wanting to surpass Paste-Pot Pete of all goals. Love the positioning in the first page particularly, I've learned a long time ago to never doubt the power of duct-tape.

DimZebra

Yeah, I think the Tamaki manga proves that the licensors aren't terribly easily offended, since Takachiho wrote it himself and it contains FAR gamier content than anything that's ever shown up on Patreon, including plenty of bondage stuff, straight-up nudity, and a scene that might well be gamier than anything you'd be willing to draw for love or money.(If you've read it, you'll know the scene I'm referring to) (Also has some stuff clearly inspired by your version FWIW, including strongly implying a genetically upgraded Kei 'n Yuri)
