ROSE STANDS ALONE, pt.4: Spicier than I remembered!

Following up on our previous installment, you Bigger Spenders of the $5+ tiers can now enjoy the narrative's continuation and abrupt conclusion as this incomplete commissioned story from the early 2000s jumps forward a few pages to Dirty Pair's Kei-- no, Rose briefly escaping captivity in an Unnamed Big Bad Guy's sprawling HQ. (Alas, couldn't get scans of the intervening pages between this scene and the previous one.) 

Anyhoo, in the missing pages, the distress-prone but still often badass Rose had flattened a bunch of her Masked Flunky captors, freed herself from herself from her bonds, then fled into the enemy facility in a bid to avoid winding up in the Big Bad Guy's harem-- only, as we rejoin the narrative, to find herself grabbed and dragged off into the seraglio by the harem's girls. 

Ah, but they're doing this for Rose's own good, you see, by disguising her as a different harem girl before the alerted HQ's guards search the area, in plot twist not at all contrived for maximum cheesecakery.

Speaking of cheesecake, gotta say that I'd forgotten that this scene was one of very, very few commissions I've ever done that featured actual nudity, as I didn't do that very often back then, nor do I nowadays. (Not to mention some definite Inappropriate Touching of our heroine, albeit theoretically done in the cause of disguising her as just another harem member.) Can't recall exactly what the higher level of spiciness was about, though I no doubt charged extra for it.

To cut & paste from the previous posts: Anyhoo, at some point in the early 2000s when I was long on free time and short on paying comics work, a generous friend of mine wanted some "DiD" content featuring Kei-- no, Rose. Originally I was going to crank out some pin-ups, but instead I decided to do some sketchy layout pages in what proved to be an early version of the later Empowered comic format.

Wellp, like most but not quite all of these proto-Empowered DiD comic commissions, the story of Rose, the harem girls & Masked Flunkies abruptly halted after other work intervened. In fact, you can guess exactly what that "other work" might've been by noting the presence of a chirpy blonde harem girl who's clearly a prototype version of Social Butterfly from Marvel's Livewires. Yeahp, must've wrapped this story up right before I started writing and laying out that 2004 miniseries; speaking of which, I'll be posting my layouts from issue #2 of Livewires later in the month.
