VINTAGE(-ish) CON SKETCHES: When the letter M attacks!
Added 2021-01-01 14:01:02 +0000 UTCWellp, back to plowing through the remaining pieces in my old CON SKETCHES folder. With these pieces, we're hitting up more of the illos listed under the letter M; this time, we're hitting up a trio of commissioned pieces based on the amusing concept of various characters serving as pinup girls for various branches of the Imperial military.
A few words of explanation:
Yeahp, that's Caitlin Fairchild from Gen13 as "Miss TIE Fighter"...
...and that's Gabrielle from 1997's Titans: Scissors, Paper, Stone as "Miss Death Star Gunner"...
...and we close out with, I think, a character from Shirow's second Dominion volume, No More Noise, as "Miss Detention Block Guard."
An entertaining concept overall, though the pieces proved murderously time-consuming in terms of having to reference the various Star Wars costume and hardware details. I might've referenced the pinup poses from actual Vargas illos, but I'm no longer sure about that point almost 20 years later. (Note, by contrast, that I can very clearly remember negative aspects of drawing these pieces, as the first sentence of this paragraph indicates.)
