DESIGN TUESDAY: Character designs for EMPOWERED vol.9, pt.5
Added 2021-02-02 14:01:00 +0000 UTCFor most of my time on Empowered, I would produce, at best, a quick sketch of a new character before drawing a comic page; often, in fact, I would just design new capes on the actual page. ("Just in time" character design, I suppose.)
However, Empowered vol.9 featured so many new characters during Emp's book-long run through a gauntlet of supervillains that I sat down and cranked out twenty-odd pages worth of chara designs before work on the main plotline got underway.
Wellp, here's the next set of said design sketches, along with their introductory shot late in the volume. (Note, alas, that the unrelated supervill Trunkotronic never made an appearance in the volume.)
Pretty sure I might have a few more vol.9 design sketches kicking around somewhere, so you'll likely see one more post in this series.

These guys really committed to their bit. And of the Emp-nappers, _almost_ even made good use of kidnapping her! I bet their lair smelled like a fish market that failed inspection, though.

Seriously, you do seem to have a lot of fun throwing together concepts like this, all the crowd scenes, parties, this volume and other places you get to flex this creativity are really standout because of it.
